The theme for World Architecture Day 2024 is ‘Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design’.

Across the country, GSSArchitecture is made up of a hugely talented group of people at all stages in their careers and we have taken this opportunity to celebrate all our fantastic teams at GSS. We encourage everyone from graduates, apprentices, and those who have years of industry experience to continue to develop their skills and knowledge to be able to provide the best possible service to our clients, whilst enhancing their own personal development.

We actively encourage our younger members to contribute and, where possible, to lead projects from early in their career, empowering them to bring fresh approaches and constantly challenge the design and process. Architecture is a long career path and therefore requires constant change and growth to achieve sustainable development. Our working group teams are widely contributed to and led by our younger teams, keeping our practice relevant for the challenges of the future.

We have seen a shift over recent years on what is important for cities and urban environments with events such as COVID, Grenfell and the Climate Crisis. From a masterplanning and project level, GSS embrace new approaches not only in technical design but from how our teams work together and collaborate. Our younger generation will be the leaders and future Partners of our practice and therefore we wish to enable them to have the skills, networks and confidence to lead by their own example.

GSS have long-standing relationships with education institutions across the country who help us to consistently support and mentor young people and recent graduates to ensure our designs have a range of different perspectives incorporated during every design stage. Many of our students have delivered their own award-winning academic projects but also contributed and led our award-winning buildings. Our commitment to investing in the next generation of professionals has helped contribute to our continued growth and success as an architectural practice over our 145-year history.

We want to thank our teams for their commitment to GSS and we look forward to continuing to learn from them as well as helping to nurture them to reach their potential.
