We have been appointed by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to progress the RIBA Stage 1 Concept Design for their Haematology Day Unit at the world-renowned Guy’s Hospital, a leading research and teaching facility.

Heading up a select, multidisciplinary team of specialist practitioners, we will work as Architect, Principal Designer BR and CDM to transform the Haematology Day Unit, located on 4th Floor Southwark Wing.

The unit currently delivers Apheresis services, which are a cornerstone of modern, precision-based medicine used across haematology, nephrology, neurology, oncology, and emergency care. Demand for advanced apheresis procedures is higher in London than in most regions which makes strategic provision and resilience particularly important drivers for this project.

The project vision is to design a state-of-the-art Haematology Day Unit. This will be achieved by reconfiguring the unit to improve clinical spaces, increase the number and quality of treatment rooms, apheresis beds and chairs, whilst taking the opportunity to redesign the entrance area. With patient care at the forefront of design considerations, the unit will be transformed to provide better, more timely care for patients. Meeting this demand for specialist red cell apheresis treatment will also allow the Trust to reduce pressure on their other services.
