Newton Building

We were appointed as Project Managers, Lead Consultant, Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Principal Designers for the major refurbishment and remodelling of the Newton Building at the University of Northampton.

Having acquired the redundant Kingsley Girls’ School, this Grade II listed building was designed to house the new School of Applied Sciences. As the spatial need was some 25% greater than the existing floor area, the design team devised an innovative solution; by identifying all areas that did not require normal daylight and locating these below ground level, space was created for academic endeavour.

The project includes a suite of immersive virtual reality technologies which greatly assist in the design of products from engines to car design or any industrial 3D designs. It is believed to be the first time in the UK that a small-to-medium business has had access to this level of technology.
