CoSTAR Live Lab at Production Park in Wakefield is a state-of-the-art research and development facility, which is set to revolutionise live performance experiences by developing cutting-edge technology solutions. As part of the £75.6 million CoSTAR network, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the Live Lab aims to maintain the UK’s world-leading position in gaming, TV, film, performance, and digital entertainment sectors.

Led by the University of York, with core partners including Production Park, Screen Yorkshire, Wakefield Council, Vodafone, and the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, the CoSTAR Live Lab provides world-class facilities for the future of live performance. With advanced motion capture, immersive audio-visual technologies, virtual production capabilities, high-performance computing, and private 5G infrastructure, the space enables the development of next-generation user experiences across screen, stage, and the metaverse.
