We won the development of Bradgate Park Visitor Centre in a design competition. The fully accessible centre, located at the heart of the park, is a key feature and enhances visitors’ experiences by bringing together all aspects of the park’s history.
The development has doubled the size of the exhibition space and has created a series of innovative displays which tell the story of the park’s natural and human history from 560 million years ago to the present day. Within these exhibits, some of earth’s oldest plant life fossils sit close to a model of the Tudor mansion, once home to the nine-day Queen of England, Lady Jane Grey.
We developed a masterplan to assist with Bradgate Park’s desire to educate and benefit the local community. The Visitor Centre, which was opened by Sir David Attenborough, was the first phase of an ambitious redevelopment of the Deer Barn complex, with the second phase design comprising the re-organisation of the adjacent café area to facilitate more visitors.
