A leading institute in the provision of Further and Higher Education courses, the Manor House was remodelled as a School of Catering for Tresham College.
We were appointed as Architects and Quantity Surveyors to fully restore and convert the building after it was completely destroyed by fire. The facility boasts a number of teaching kitchens, teaching and conference rooms, all of which can accommodate a wide selection of catering courses, together with a restaurant which is open to the public. Interestingly, the building was originally designed by the practice's founder, John Alfred Gotch, in 1905.
We worked closely with the client, catering specialists and other consultants in order to provide a state-of-the-art, modern facility whilst remaining mindful throughout the design and construction of the importance conserving the building's original heritage features.
The School of Catering was designed and constructed to achieve a BREEAM Very Good rating and it was also a top three finalist in the East Midlands Constructing Excellence Awards 2011.
"The Manor House has stood in Corby for many years and I am pleased that the new partnership between Corby Borough Council, Tresham College and GSS means that the building will thrive for many years to come."
