We were appointed as Architects on the conversion of three previously vacant retail units into one large M&S clothing and food hall in Washington Galleries, Sunderland.

The project involved converting the two different floor levels into one level throughout the store, as well as the installation of a steel mezzanine structure, escape stairs, escalator and lifts, in addition to removing the curtain walling from the front façade and adding new cladding. We also installed a new external plant enclosure, loading bay and sprinkler tanks.

The store is now open to the public, providing a welcoming and modern space for visitors to enjoy.
