We worked as Architects, Lead Consultant and Principal Designers, alongside SDC Builders Ltd, to deliver this latest addition to the College’s Estate. The 1,300m2 Digital Academy provides high-quality teaching and learning spaces across four storeys, and offers a range of courses and apprenticeships intended to help students into digital careers by improving their professional IT skills.
In order to house the new Digital Academy, an extension at the College’s Booth Lane Campus was required, together with a glazed link adjacent building. Materials were chosen specifically to allow the building to blend into the rest of the site, creating a seamless design.
The facilities include a new eSports Games Room and a Virtual Reality TV Studio.
"Our new Digital Academy aims to close digital skills gaps across the county and develop students’ basic IT competences. The Digital Academy will enable students to develop their skills from a basic to a specialist level, appropriate to their need. Digital spaces will encourage teams to network, create, plan and build."
